(1 Timothy 6:6-10) Holy God, everything we had, have, and could ever obtain is Yours. It’s always been Yours and will always be Yours. As James said in James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Father, in Your infinite compassion and grace, remind ___ of that truth: everything good in this world is a gift. Nothing is owed to us; nothing is ours to hold onto. Everything we have is so because You have given it to us. In light of that, God, empower ___ to detach from the things of this world. Strengthen ___ to let go of the money, relationships, experiences—whatever it may be that might take Your place in ___’s heart. Through Your love, Father, redirect ___’s desire to be fully and completely satisfied in You alone. Draw near to ___, Father. Give them a tangible sense of Your presence this week, that they might “taste and see that [You are good]” (Ps 34:8). As you teach ___ to detach from the things they’re relying on for satisfaction, hope and fulfillment, give them a clear path to the only One truly worthy of their attachment. Amen.
