(John 16:33) As You know, Father—perhaps more than we could ever know—ministry is no easy task. Often, it is a thankless job. In our limited perspective, we can’t always see how You’re working or what You’re doing behind the scenes. Although ministry revolves around selflessness, compassion, and giving of oneself, people still, in their brokenness, reject Your message and look down on Your disciples. On top of it all, the Enemy constantly bombards Your servants with attack after attack, looking to drag us down in our own sin, shame, and guilt. Father, in the midst of this potential for doubt, discouragement, and darkness, I ask You to encourage Your child, ___. Lift their heart from the pit of despair—even (and especially when) their circumstances try to pull them down. Make Your Spirit ___’s constant companion to walk alongside them, to empower them, and to fill them with Your light and encouragement. Give ___ perspective. Remind them of what You did, what You accomplished on this Earth, despite all that was working against You. Just as You “conquered the world,” so ___ can overcome their “trouble and sorrows” through Your Holy Spirit. Encourage ___ this week, Father. Amen.
