(1 John 1:8-9) Father God, there is no one who is righteous, not even one (Romans 3:10). We all have sinned and fallen short of Your glory, Lord (Romans 3:23). Like Your servant John said in the verse above, we fool ourselves and deny the truth when we hide our sins or pretend they don’t exist. That isn’t helpful for us, and it doesn’t allow Your glory to shine through our brokenness. Father, ___ has been confronted head-on by the sin in their life. ___ isn’t unique in their struggle, but the shame and guilt associated with this particular sin has begun to overwhelm them. Amid that struggle, Father, I ask You to fill ___ with Your mercy, Your grace, and Your love. Above all, show ___ an overpowering picture of Your forgiveness. Like John says, if we confess our sins, You are “faithful to forgive us every time.” What a beautiful truth, Father! Remind ___ that You are ready to forgive them—every time. You will never let us down or leave us in our sin. Bring ___ out of their shame, and, through Your forgiveness, mercy, and love, lift them up into Your glorious light. Thank You that You are a forgiving God. Amen.
