(Matthew 5:14-16) College is a time unlike any other in our lives, God. You know that. Although this upcoming season for ___ will have similarities to their past and to their future, in itself, it is incredibly unique. For several years, ___ will be surrounded by people their age, with similar interests and in similar stages of life. In that, there is so much goodness and potential for good things, Father—for encouragement, for empowering, and for the building of lifelong relationships. But, we also know there will be opportunities for distraction and for giving into temptation. We all want to be loved, Father, and too often, we forget Your love for us. In that forgetfulness—especially during a time like college—it can be easy to seek that love and approval elsewhere, and to do so by blending in with the crowd. Despite that temptation, Father, I ask that You empower ___ to rise above and to let their light “shine brightly before others.” Equip ___ to overcome and resist that temptation, to find their satisfaction in You, and to encourage others to do the same. Work through Your servant, ___, Father. Use them to show many others Your love and grace. Amen.
