(Exodus 14:13-14) As You know, Father, the effects of sin on this world have stretched into every corner of the Earth—and into the hearts and minds of every last human being. As unfortunate and discouraging of a reality that is, we know You still are working out Your plan of redemption and restoration for humanity. We can have authentic, lasting hope as we witness what You’re doing in the present and anticipate what’s still to come in the future. Thank You for that, Lord. But as we live in the “already not yet,” we know what broken humans are capable of—what we ourselves are capable of. And as we ask for Your Holy Spirit’s guiding wisdom, discernment, and love to keep us from hurting others, we also pray for Your protection from the pain caused by the words and actions of those around us. Today, I ask You to protect ___ from that pain. Save them from the negative impact others have had on their life. Father, fill ___ up to the brim with Your love, grace, and faithfulness, that even when they are mistreated by others, they will still find satisfaction, joy, and hope in You. Thank You for saving us from the brokenness of others and ourselves. Amen.
