(1 Samuel 16:7) Lord, when You were looking for the next king of Israel, through Your servant, Samuel, You didn’t use the same criteria as us. You didn’t look for physical strength or striking appearance or even bravery and courage. You didn’t use any outward characteristic or standard of man to find King David; instead, You looked at his heart. Although David might not have been as strong or as brave or as intimidating as other men, he had a heart for You—and You recognized that. Thank You for that encouragement, Father. God, I know that ___ has a heart for You. ___ is committed to You, trusts in You, and wants to follow You with their life. I’ve seen that in their life. But even I fail to see ___’s true motivation and heart—as other people often fail to see mine. Despite that, God, I know that You see ___’s heart. You see the beauty, love, and faith that characterizes their inner being. Encourage ___ in that incredible truth, Father. Give ___ a new identity that’s based on how You see them. Amen.
