(Romans 12:4-5) Lord Jesus, Your Word never fails to give us a powerful, creative metaphor to help us understand and apply complex truths. One such example is that of the Body of Christ. What a beautiful picture of Your design, God! Like a human body has individual parts that each serve a specific function, so You’ve also blessed each one of Your children with unique gifts of grace that serve specific roles in the Church. As You saw with Adam in the Garden of Eden, You knew it “wasn’t good for us to be alone,” so You designed us to exist and thrive in relationship and community. As Paul told the Church in Rome, “we are vitally joined to one another, with each contributing to the others.” Though we are many, we are one. In light of this, Father, I ask You to give Your child, ___, the confidence and boldness to embrace their own uniqueness. Through Your Holy Spirit, equip ___ to see the unique gifts You’ve given them, instead of their flaws. Show ___ how they fit into the bigger picture—how ___ can use their gifts to serve the body. Inspire ___, through Your Holy Spirit, to learn to love and appreciate their uniqueness because, ultimately, it brings them both into community and into union with Your perfect design. Amen.
